Radiation Risk (stochastic vs deterministic)

This module demonstrates through an analogy (fair vs weighted dice) the differences between a stochastic probability vs a deterministic probability. The analogy helps understand radiation exposure risks for low-dose stochastic events, vs tissue effects at high doses.

Fair Dice

Two standard 6-sided dice, P(each face) = 1/6

Observed Theoretical (scaled)
Total rolls: 0

Weighted Dice

Two loaded 6-sided dice, P(3) = 0.5, P(other faces) = 0.1 each

Observed Theoretical (scaled)
Total rolls: 0
